Field Trips
At Fairwood, we believe field trips expand our children’s understanding of their community and the world, and connect classroom lessons to real-life experiences. Some grade-specific examples include:

Baylands Park (Animal Sanctuary), Pizza My Heart Tour, Community Heroes Presentation, etc.

Tech Museum (with STEM activities), Happy Hollow, Hiller Aviation Museum, Planetarium, In-n-Out Tour, Safeway Tour, etc.

Oakland Zoo, San Jose Historical Museum, Foothill Nature Preserve, Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (Play), Happy Hollow, The Tech Interactive, Fairwood Park Picnic, Peopleologie Event, etc.

Monterey Bay Aquarium, Ohlone Village (Deer Hollow Farm), Palo Alto Baylands, Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (Play), Sunnyvale Heritage Museum, Hidden Villa, PYT Theater, RAFT Center Visit (with STEM activities), etc.

Gold Country Trip (Diggens Tent Town and Moaning Caverns), San Jose Museum of Art, San Juan Bautista State Park, San Jose Symphony, Save the Bay Planting (Shoreline Park), Intel Museum, Carriage House Theatre (Play), Exploding Earth Demonstration, Presentation Walk-Throughs, etc.

Walden West Science Camp Week (overnight), Angel Island (overnight), Moss Landing Kayaking, Chabot Space & Science Center, Exploratorium, Tech Museum, 49er Stadium Tour, Physics Show @ Foothill College, Presentation Walk-Throughs, etc.
Note: Fairwood students enjoy more field trips than peer schools, and the Alliance proudly sponsors 100% of the costs. This ensures equal access to unforgettable experiences for every student by removing economic barriers, and the burden from parents and teachers to coordinate fundraising collections for each class-specific field trip.
