Hello Fairwood Families,

We are very excited to get all of our parents volunteering for the 2025-2026 school year!  Your partnership means the world to us, and we are excited to have our campus buzzing with volunteers once again!  Please follow the directions below based on the type of volunteer you are – Returning Volunteer or New Volunteer.
Returning Volunteers
To renew your volunteering agreement for this school year, you will need to update your student’s information in Better Impact. Here’s how:
Login to Better Impact: Click here to login – Remember as a returning volunteer, please use the “I already have a username” login option on the bottom right side of the page. If you have forgotten your password, please reset it through the portal as well. Once you log in, you may be taken directly to the page where you can complete the updates. If not, simply follow these steps:
Update Student Information:
Go to your profile and select “Additional Info.”
Choose your school as the organization.
Update your student’s current grade, school, and teacher’s name.
Re-sign and date the volunteer agreement to keep our records up-to-date.
If you will be driving for any of our activities, ensure your driver’s information is current:
Update Driver Information:
Go to your profile and select “Additional Info.”
Choose your school as the organization.
Scroll down to “Driver and Vehicle Information” to make any necessary updates.
New Volunteers
To get started, please complete the following requirements:
TB Test – You must have a valid TB test dated within the last four years.  If you meet the qualifications, you can also submit a TB Risk Assessment form  completed by your doctor.
Fingerprinting – If you plan to participate in field trips as a driver and/or chaperone, fingerprinting is required. Attached is the form you’ll need to bring to your fingerprinting appointment. We will be holding two FREE fingerprinting and TB test events at Fairwood Explorer – one on August 27 (Back to School Night) from 4:00-8:00 pm and another in September, which is TBD.  We strongly encourage all new volunteers to complete fingerprinting at one of these two events, and we will share information on how to sign up for an appointment next week.  If you are not able to attend one of these events, you can take the Livescan Fingerprinting form  to a UPS store, a notary, or the Sheriff’s office to complete fingerprinting at your own cost.  Once completed, your fingerprinting record remains valid until your student graduates from the district.
Volunteer Application – Please complete the application at the following link: Volunteer Application.
For any questions or if you need assistance, please contact Vanessa Escobar, our Community Outreach Supervisor, at vanessa.escobar@sesd.org.
Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm. We look forward to a fantastic year with you!
